Ryan Garcia in a press conference said that “I’m willing to sacrifice my very being for this,” Garcia declared. I’m willing to put my life in danger. I can promise him one thing: it won’t be simple. If he thinks he can simply walk in and throw a couple of punches and I’ll just roll over, he has another thing coming for him. This sort of yearning, this intensity of passion, is foreign to him. Not supposed to be like this at all. I am prepared to totally wipe the floor with him.

‘I refuse to concede defeat in this battle. Even though I am exhausted, it makes no difference to me. He’ll have to put me to sleep to even start to get me away from him. Throughout the fight, I’ve been landing heavy blows on him. It’s settled; I’m coming to knock him out.’
‘He defies logic in every way. Perhaps a left hook is all I need if (he thinks) that’s all I’ve got. I’m going to whack him over the top of his tiny little head and see what happens. He clearly has a large brain, as his head is enormous. Basically, it’s a huge bullseye. Quite vulnerable to blows. In every opponent, he searches for the same things: men who don’t hit hard and are going to tyre themselves out by throwing. That’s just what he looks for since he thinks he can overpower everybody. He imagines himself to be invincible and imposing. I can guarantee you that he will run into trouble in this bout. He feels he’s got a superior defence than it truly is. If you consistently leave the ring bloodied and battered, your defence is weak.’
‘As a result of a fight with Gamboa, he sustained some minor injuries. Gamboa was born with a single limb. Really, how strong is your defence? Every one of you is broken. It, however, is ignored in favour of focusing on the outcomes. But he was already getting his behind whooped twice, and when I hit him with that, he’ll look like a whole different guy in the ring; he’ll look all twisted up.’
